The Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the few franchises that are yet to win the IPL Trophy despite being in the League since its inauguration. The RCB might be considered the most unlucky team in the league. It has had the best players playing for it, including a lineup which included Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli, Ab De Villiers, Shane Watson, etc. And yet, the men in red remain devoid of the trophy. This time around though, in 2023, RCB will be looking to change its luck. With the entry of star players like Faf Du Plessis and Wanindu Hasaranga, the side has regained strength. Here are 3 players which they will look to employ this time in IPL after making serious bids for them in the auctions :
1) Mayank Markande –
Young Mayank Markande is all set to be released by his current team, the Mumbai Indians. The RCB might want to go ahead and pick him into their squad, especially since they need a leg spinner to back Wanindu Hasaranga, who is sure to be a part of the squad. Karn Sharma, who is the substitute to Hasaranga, isn’t upto the mark, which is why the inclusion on Markande might help the Bangalore franchise.
2) Mayank Agarwal –
Although it isn’t confirmed, but there are heavy rumours that the PBKS shall be releasing their captain from IPL 2022, Mayank Agarwal. The rumour started spreading after PBKS announced Shikhar Dhawan as the new captain of the Punjab side. Mayank Agarwal is a really experienced top-order batsman, which can be very useful for RCB. Agarwal could partner Du Plessis and Virat Kohli in the top order and open the batting attack of the team.
3) Nitish Rana –
An interesting moment in the tournament would be if the Kolkata Knight Riders decided to part ways with their middle order batsman Nitish Rana. Barring his debut season, Rana has successfully scored more than 300 runs in all the seasons. There are chances though that the KKR bids adieu to Rana this season and if that happens it would be really advisable for the RCB to try and get him in their squad. Doing so would ensure that Glenn Maxwell in the middle order receives a left-hand partner while batting, hence lifting a lot of pressure. The left-right hand combination of the RCB would be really difficult to break after this.
