The IPL is an annual, unofficial festival in India celebrated by all fans who call cricket their religion. The second most valuable sporting event begins around the end of March and goes on till the end of May, with ten teams playing for the golden cup. The thrill of T20 cricket is felt in its entirety during the IPL. We have seen games alter themselves in the last few balls, making the game severely unpredictable. This was felt a lot by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, or SRH. They lost a few crucial games due to a few crucial moments and tiny mistakes by some players. They might want to turn things over in 2023, for which they will need some big changes in their squads. Here are 3 players the SRH might let go before 2023 auctions :
1) Sean Abbott –
Sean Abbott was an important buy for the SRH as the Australian pacer had had some pretty impressive outings in international cricket so far. He turned out to be severely underutilized though, as he was included in only one game. In that game too he gave away 47 runs at an economy touching nearly 12. To top it all off, he went wicketless. He was benched for the entire season after that.
2) Fazalhaq Farooqi –
Fazalhaq Farooqi was inducted into the SRH squad as a backup pacer. The Afghan speedster didn’t get to play a single match owing to the presence of a strong pace attack in the Hyderabad squad, which the selectors didn’t want to disturb. Owing to his underutilization, the SRH management might look to release him and purchase someone more suited to a full-time need of the squad.
3) Glenn Philips –
Glenn Philips is a cricketer from New Zealand who is yet to achieve international acclaim and fame. Philips was bought by the SRH this year in the mega-auctions, but he wasn’t included in the squad even once during the entire season. He was earlier included in the Rajasthan Royals’ squad, where he played three matches. The SRH might want to make more room for international players in its squad by releasing Philips this time around before IPL 2023.
